Privacy Notice

This Privacy Notice describes what Franklin County Busted Mugshots receives when a visitor uses the pages, search tools, or contact route, how that information is used, and when it may be shared. By using the pages, a visitor accepts the practices described here. The notice is written for the private reference service, not for the sheriff, court, police departments, IDOC, BOP, ICE, or any linked source.

Information Sent Directly

Search terms

A name, location, or other value entered into a search widget is sent to the third-party provider that operates that tool. Franklin County Busted Mugshots does not store or log those search terms on its own system through the page interface. The provider’s own privacy rules govern its handling after submission.

Messages and requests

Email or contact-form messages are kept as needed to read, respond, and maintain a record of the exchange. They are not shared outside the operator’s organization unless disclosure is required by law, needed to protect rights, or necessary to address a security or abuse issue.

Technical Data Collected Automatically

Like most web pages, the service may receive basic technical details when a page loads. These details help diagnose faults, understand traffic, and keep the pages usable:

  • Internet Protocol address.
  • Browser name and version.
  • Device type and operating system.
  • Pages viewed and the time spent on each.
  • The referring page, when one is supplied.
  • Request and access timestamps.

Cookies and similar tools

Cookies may be used to understand how visitors use the pages and to support certain functions. A browser can block or delete cookies. Some features may work differently when cookies are disabled. Third-party search, analytics, or advertising services may set their own cookies under their own policies.

How Information Is Used

Information received by the operator may be used for the following ordinary purposes:

  • Keep the pages available, secure, and reasonably fast.
  • Send search requests to the partner service that operates the search tool.
  • Learn which pages and links visitors find useful.
  • Find, diagnose, and correct technical problems.
  • Display advertising that may be relevant to a visitor’s interests.

Links to Other Services

The pages link to sheriff and police contacts, jail and booking resources, courts, government portals, state and federal locators, local news, and third-party search tools. Once a visitor follows an outbound link, the destination’s privacy notice and terms control its data practices. Franklin County Busted Mugshots does not control how an outside office or publisher stores information.

Some advertising partners may track activity across different websites to support interest-based advertising. That tracking occurs on the partner’s systems and is governed by its disclosures, not by this page’s operator.

Who May Receive Data

Personal data is not sold by the operator. It may be shared with or received by the following groups when necessary for the purposes above:

  • Search partners that process an entered query.
  • Analytics providers that measure page use.
  • Advertising networks and their service providers.
  • Law-enforcement or government bodies acting under a valid legal order or other lawful demand.

Security Efforts

Reasonable standard security practices are used for information handled by the operator. No internet-connected system is completely secure, however, and no promise can be made that the service or a message channel is breach-proof.

Visitors Under 18

The pages are intended for adults. The operator does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor sent personal data, a parent or guardian may use the Get in Touch page to request deletion of that submission.

Your Privacy Choices

Subject to applicable law and reasonable verification, a visitor may ask about personal information handled by the operator or request a change in its use:

  • Request a copy of personal data held by the operator.
  • Ask for inaccurate information to be corrected.
  • Request deletion where the operator has a legal duty and practical ability to do so.
  • Opt out of certain processing, including some cookie or advertising uses.

Requests should identify the information and the action sought. A third-party search provider, government office, news outlet, or aggregator must be contacted directly about data held on its system.

Changes and Effective Date

This notice may be revised when the service, technology, or legal requirements change. A revised version will be posted here with a new effective date. The current version is effective August 20, 2026.
